We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and expert Health and Social Care Teacher with the ability to teach some A-Level Sociology. You will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a genuine passion for these subjects, able to lead by example and inspire our pupils to foster a love of learning. As Lead Teacher of Health and Social Care you will be expected to lead the development of the subject curriculum which also includes Key Stage 4 Child Development, as well as make a positive contribution to the wider Social Sciences department. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated teacher to develop their career within a school that prides itself with investing in teacher CPD. Alternatively, for an exceptional candidate, there is an opportunity for taking on in addition to the Lead teacher of Health and Social Care post, the role of Temporary Head of Social Sciences to cover a Maternity leave. Within this role, you will be expected to oversee the subjects in the department including the line management of Subject Lead colleagues.

The position provides the candidate to work extensively with our Sixth Form. At Notre Dame, our Sixth Form is large and vibrant, with almost a 500 student population. The Sixth Form adopts a comprehensive ethos and we have students attending from all around the city and surrounding areas. Last year 85% of students went on to study at university level, with 46% securing places at leading Russell Group universities, which is significantly above the national average.

The department delivers an array of subjects, including Level 3 OCR Cambridge Technical Health and Social Care, Level 1/2 Cache Health and Social Care, Level 1/2 Cache Child Care and Development, AQA A-Level Sociology, EDUQAS A-Level Psychology and Level 3 WJEC EPQ. The department is also looking to expand the Social Sciences suite of subjects in the near future by introducing Level 3 Criminology. The ability to teach this could be an advantage. We are based mainly in Oakbrook House which is the main hub for Sixth Form teaching.
