We are looking to appoint to the following post from September 2024:
Director of Science – Full Time
Leadership scale 5-9 (£52,074 – £57,482 per annum pro rata)
We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual who has the skills and capacity to lead a successful Science department.
The successful candidate will have a belief that all pupils can excel in Science, and an excellent knowledge of pedagogy across all three sciences. They will be able to understand and manage the complexities of running a large secondary science department, but will view the important organisational aspect of this role as the servant to Teaching and Learning, rather than the other way round. The successful candidate will work with three individual Heads of Science who each lead teams of specialist teachers, and will have the ability to bring about improvement across the whole Science department while respecting the individual identities of each separate science. We welcome applications from both internal and external candidates – although we have no preference for the specialism of the successful candidate, if applying externally you must be able to teach Biology up to at least Y9. We would expect the successful candidate to be confident teaching A Level in their specialism.
